How to grow

'Bearss' (Persian) lime is the standard — seedless, juicy, and productive. It's the most cold-sensitive common citrus, so in North Florida keep it in a pot you can wheel inside, or plant against a warm south wall. Certified disease-free stock, full sun, good drainage — the usual citrus commandments.

Water & feeding

Consistent deep watering; drought stress shows up as small, dry fruit.

Common problems

  • Citrus greening (HLB)
  • Cold damage — the tenderest citrus
  • Citrus canker

Harvest

Pick when full-sized and glossy green; Persian limes turn yellow when fully ripe and are still excellent.

Nerdy fact: The Persian lime is a seedless triploid hybrid — three sets of chromosomes, which is exactly why it can't make seeds. Seedlessness is a genetic accident you're benefiting from.
